PILLAR
Marketing that understands education, because we led inside it first.
That is the whole job. Most schools do not need more content. They need the way they are seen to catch up with the school they have already become.
The gap is rarely a design problem. It opens because the people doing the marketing have never sat in the meeting where enrolment numbers are read out, never written a scope and sequence, never stood at a tour explaining a fee rise to a family who is also looking at the school ten minutes away.
We have. Fifteen years in classrooms, in curriculum and in executive teams, before any of this was a marketing business. So we start where a school leader starts: with what the school actually does, and whether a parent could repeat it back.
Marketing that understands education. Not a sector we researched. A sector we came from.
Every project on the following pages is the same brief in a different building: take something the school already does well, and make it legible.
Penrith's learning and character framework was strong, coherent and completely undocumented. It was carried orally by the people who built it, which made it fragile under review, impossible to induct new staff into, and invisible to prospective families.
We did not write a new framework. We wrote down the one they already had, then gave it a form it could travel in: Great Learning, Well People, expressed as a system rather than a slogan.
“His capacity to draw on his experience in education really helped him understand the unique setting that schools have when it comes to marketing. We are so proud of the product and we continue to receive many compliments on the quality of the work.”
“James was responsive to ideas, provided many iterations, and spent time to make sure our vision became a reality.”
Pre-K to Year 12 by 2029, a STEM building opening, fees rising fifteen percent into the top tier locally, and a brand still speaking as the small school it opened as.
The first thing we found was not a design problem. The site was blocking the AI crawlers entirely, so when a parent asked an assistant about the College, the answer was assembled from directory listings and a diocesan profile. Nobody at the school had ever seen that answer.
So we started with evidence. Every brand artefact the College holds, its website, its Corporation profile and its presence across nine third party sources, with colour values sampled directly from the College's own files. Findings first, recommendations second.
Positioning and enrolment strategy, the brand system and its templates, campaign direction from enquiry through tour to application, and AI search visibility held year round rather than run as a project.
Everything built this year points at one date: the Hills Schools Expo.
Nothing in the brand foundation is invented. Every recommendation is derived from what the College already owns.

Success Resources is the world's number one global training and seminar company, thirty years in, running events across Australia, Singapore, the Philippines and South Africa. The energy in the room is not the problem. Holding it afterwards is, across four markets and a dozen execution teams who each have their own way of doing things.
James sits between leadership and the departmental teams, holding strategy and standard across markets, and built Success Connect: the global community platform where members keep learning long after the event ends. Programme content is scripted, filmed and delivered inside it, not bolted on.

Introduced to us through a school leader in our network. A national footprint across schools, workplaces, veterans and first responders, and the operational reality of a not for profit, which is to say no appetite for three disconnected systems and the admin of holding them together.
We built all three on one stack. The public website, an online community portal where members and affiliates actually gather, and the CRM underneath both so a single member record follows a person from first visit through to renewal. Owned by the organisation and registered in its name.
“His generous sharing has supported Wellbeing Australia as they investigate and reassess their community management systems and engagement. James has been accessible, adaptive and solution focused in meeting our needs with the requirements of our NFP framework.”
CrowdCoursing works across Florida school districts on safety and people management, partnered with Space Florida and the University of Florida. The technology was proven. The story was not: a single company name carrying two very different platforms, with no rule for which one leads.
We separated them. CrowdCoursing is the company and the trust line. ORBIT is the workforce pipeline connecting employers, schools and emerging talent. VANTAGE is the people, safety and engagement platform for schools. One foundation, three identities, one credibility line underneath everything: powered by CrowdCoursing.
Build the workforce before you need it. Written, produced and cut for districts, schools and industry partners.
“As a business owner, it can be difficult to find people who can produce product ready artifacts for marketing and onboarding, and he's done a stellar job.”

Keynotes, staff professional learning and filmed training across Australia and Asia, from school executive teams through to rooms of students. It is where the strategy gets tested: if it cannot be explained from a stage in five minutes, it is not clear enough to put on a website.
A multi branch education organisation where brand and teaching quality were drifting apart under growth. James joined the board holding both, shaping online presence and positioning while holding curriculum and content standards across the branches.
“A powerful blend of educational leadership and marketing strategy that has been vital to our growth.”Kale Kneale, CEO and Founder
An eight week Stage Presence and Communication programme run with eight apprentices, delivered in partnership with PillarEDU and led alongside Phoebe Long. James designed the programme and coached each apprentice one to one, from first draft to standing up and delivering it.
The same work we do with a school executive, done with young people. It is the clearest test of whether a method actually teaches.
“James' thoughtful and imaginative approach in providing us with great resources assisted us to launch quicker and more successfully. He listened to our needs and delivered a final product that was successful and what we needed.”
James spent fifteen years in education, teaching, curriculum development and senior leadership across several of Sydney's leading independent schools, ending in executive roles with responsibility for staff, programmes and outcomes.
He has sat in the meeting where enrolment numbers are discussed, written curriculum, led teaching teams, and been handed marketing as one more line on an already full portfolio.

Every agency pitching your school learned about education. We came from it.
Not a menu of services. A seat, held year round, including the six weeks your campus goes quiet.
Annual and term plans tied to enrolment targets, in language families repeat back.
Enquiry to tour to application, tracked end to end, in front of your existing system.
Out of leaders' heads and into documents, icons and classroom assets. Review ready.
One locked source of truth, and templates your staff can actually use.
Owned by you, registered in the school's name, handed over cleanly if you want us gone.
The admin that eats your registrar's week, running itself.
Parent newsletters, staff memos, the Head of College video programme, stakeholder and crisis comms. One calendar, one standard.
What the assistants tell families who ask about you. Twelve months from now this is table stakes.
Including arguing for the opposite of sector best practice when the opposite is more likely to work.
Start with the visibility check. We will send you what the AI tools are actually telling prospective families about your school, with a competitor comparison, prepared by hand. No cost, and nothing about it obliges you to speak to us.
